Action

"You can borrow knowledge, but not action.” - James Clear.

Hmm! One is always encouraged to learn, read, study, etc. It’s even said that knowledge is power. That’s all great and all. But without action or application, the thing one learns or studies or reads becomes useless. This quote is true from every angle. If there’s an angle from which it is not true, I’ll like to hear about it.

You can read all about exercising, but if you don’t take action to exercise, you won’t reap its benefits. You can read and desire 6 packs all you want, but if you don’t eat right, and do crunches, you will not have a pack of any kind. If you have ideas or learn of an idea, but do not implement it, you won’t know its truthfulness or reap its benefits. You can read of the best recipe, but if you don’t go to the kitchen and put it to the test, you won’t know whether what the recipe projects is true or not. Action, Action, Action.

Some might say that you can get others to act for you. But that’s a misnomer. You can get others to act with you, to augment you, but never in your stead. Nobody can have a 6 pack for you. Nobody can be fit for you. Nobody can have good health for you. Nobody can have a child for you. Nobody can be a good parent for you. Nobody can be a good business owner for you. Nobody can be a good employee for you. Only you can be [fill in the blank] for you. Even scripture says ‘faith without action is dead.’

The ‘borrow’ part of the quote is from reading others’ books or articles or ideas they’ve shared. And you know them from learning them or borrow them if you’re honest. But only action can bring you the desired result precipitated by the knowledge. How do you take action on knowledge you’ve learned or borrowed? Either in your personal life or business?

Call to action! Act! Act! Whatever is important to you that you’ve been putting off, act on it today! Not tomorrow, TODAY! Only action will bring that knowledge to life for you. Act TODAY!
