Riots At The US Capitol On January 6, 2021 - Washington DC

The title is surreal, ain’t it. Sounds like something that occurred in the 1700s, except the date in the title says 2021. No, it’s not a futuristic fiction movie either. It's as real as the real McCoy. The riots that took place at the Capitol on January 6, 2021 were more than despicable. To say that it was an assault on Democracy is an understatement. What made it worse, was that it was incited and encouraged by the POTUS (President of the United States) on that date. It was also encouraged and supported by so called Christian organizations. The centrality of right wing hate groups and militia in the protest that turned into riot and sedition against the first branch of the US government is mind boggling to say the least. This is 2021, you’d think we’ve come past the hate and relics of a time gone by.

What is there not to understand? You contested in an election and you lost. You exhausted all the permissible and available means to challenge the results, just as has been done in the last 200+ years [or since the inception of the United States]. So what gives? Since when did violence become one of those established means to challenge an election in this country.

The turbulent storms of 2020 rolled right into 2021. In all sincerity, the Lord help us. For the first time in over 100 years, a sitting president would not afford the incoming government the privilege of being at their inauguration. Quite unprecedented, but I don’t think we’re in normal times. These days are dire. Hopefully, cool heads will prevail at the end of the day. If not, I pray the Lord intervenes and supersedes the natural.

The impeachment of POTUS for the second time is the least Congress could have done. I believe POTUS is prosecutable and should be prosecuted accordingly for his involvement in the seditious acts against the government of the United States.

Any thoughts? Please feel free to share.
