The Shuffles of Life

I’m one of those who believe that if something is important, you must write it down. Else, forget that it ever came to your mind. Whatever it was will never get accomplished. Writing it down not only helps you finetune the idea that came to your mind, but it literally helps you move closer to getting it accomplished.
What you don’t write down and ritualize for momentum will get lost in the shuffle of life, especially the most important things in your life, the ones you love. Schedule these things and make them part of your habit. A relationship doesn’t get better by itself. It must be nurtured. Ignored long enough and it’ll die. Imagine a tree that doesn’t get its daily dose of sun, water, oxygen, and necessary nutrients from the soil. It may not last for a week. But a tree that gets all it needs, lasts for years and is healthy.
It's the same with the relationship with our loved ones. If we don’t communicate by word or action to them that we love them, how would they know? We cannot assume, lest we starve them of our love. Assumption is the mother of all mess ups. Because a lot goes on about our lives, we can easily forget to pay the right attention to our loved ones. Thus, we must put some of these things on paper, so as to remember to do them.
Schedule a date, a me time, a spouse time, a family time, a romantic dinner time, a weekend getaway time, just you and me time, etc. If it’s important enough, schedule it without shame. Else, the only shame is when you end up alone and isolated and wanting.
What habits do you have or rituals do you have that help or promote your relationship with your loved ones? Share!
