"You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." - James Clear

"You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems." - James Clear, Atomic Habits

The impact of this quote still reverberates through my body. It might as well yet be the best thing I’ve heard since sliced bread.

First, it reveals the fallacy of the law of attraction/ positive thinking or affirmation. Here’s what I mean, with the law of attraction/ positive thinking or affirmation, you first must have a goal, then affirm the goal positively daily or constantly to desire it to come through. Sort of like the book or movie, The Secret, where you sort of conjure up things. Well, [in the movie or it’s associated/ affiliated books] no process or system is developed or encouraged between the goal and the thought. No one is a magician or Alladin who can just conjure up things [except in Hollywood]. Even magicians have a process in which to make their illusions effortless and appear real or magical. So too in Scripture, when David prays, when Moses prays, when Nehemiah prays, when Jehoshaphat prays, there’s a mobilized army behind their prayer, there’s a mobilized governing structure behind their prayer, there’s a mobilized workforce behind their prayer, a system of sorts, detailed and specific. Yes, they prayed, however, the results of their prayer went as far as their system will take them or sustain them. To me, that’s the truth of this quote; that on the human level, on the natural level, you fall to the level of your system. Nothing more, nothing less. Quite powerful, if you ask me. Truly, wish I knew the breadth and length of such a quote many years ago. I would have spent most of my waking hours building and sustaining “systems” that churn out desired results. Not to say it is too late. For I pick up where I am today, and move forward!

Second, even if you were to rise to the level of your goals by sheer will or brute force, or luck or whatever means you may have used; you’d need to sustain the goal or achievement threshold or go higher, and only a “system” can do that. Thus, you fall to the level of your system; in any meaningful or impactful or worthy goal anyway.

What systems [habits] do you have in your personal life? What systems [habits] do you have in your business? Do these systems [habits] churn out your desired results, either in your personal life or business? If not, what are you waiting for, get to work. Build, Refine, and Improve your system [habits] to be as efficient and effective as possible.

Quote of the Week:

"What looks like talent is often careful preparation.

What looks like skill is often persistent revision."

Book of the Month:

“Reading is to the mind as exercise is to the body.” - Joseph Addison

Atomic Habits, James Clear. (I told a friend, if this book does not change my life, yet again; then there’s no hope for me. He LOL. I hope this book will do for you what it did for me).
